President, 2026 World Cup Houston Host Committee
Chris Canetti is the President of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Houston Host Committee, leading the city's preparations to host seven matches of the world's biggest tournament this summer.
With over two decades of experience in professional soccer, Chris served as President of the Houston Dynamo for eight years, making him the longest-tenured club president in MLS history. During his tenure, he was part of three championships, including two MLS Cup titles, and led the development of Shell Energy Stadium.
He was responsible for creating the Houston Dash, the city's professional women's soccer team, and organized the 2010 MLS All-Star Game at NRG Stadium featuring Manchester United before a crowd of 70,000.
In 2019, he took over as President of Houston's World Cup Bid Committee, successfully securing Houston's selection as a host city in 2022. He currently also serves as Interim CEO of the Harris County–Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA).
His community involvement includes leading 'Soccer Night in Newtown' after the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy, bringing together soccer figures like Landon Donovan and Mia Hamm to provide hope and healing to the community. He has been recognized with the Sports Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award and the MLS Doug Hamilton Executive of the Year Award.
